Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the term to describe repetitive, obtrusive, thoughts which result in the individual experiencing unreasonable fears. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is also accompanied by the individual undertaking acts in response to fears generated by such obsessions.
A typical example of OCD is compulsive hand washing in as a result of an irrational fear of germs, bacteria and contamination. The individual with the disorder undertakes the compulsion and as a result feels better because of this, only for the compulsion to return shortly aftwerwards.
